We are known for our abundance of Minnesota’s nature, and the wide variety of recreation opportunities. Itasca County has over 1 million public accessible acres to hike, bike, ATV, and hunt on. You can fish, boat, kayak and canoe on our 1,007 lakes. There are over 2,000 miles of groomed motorized trails to ATV and snowmobile. You can access the Mesabi Trail and bicycle over 50 miles of paved trail to the Iron Range. There are over 50 miles of in town biking and hiking trails that connect with area shopping, dining and lodging. Mt Itasca Winter Recreation Area is located just 5 minutes east of Grand Rapids in Coleraine. They provide downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowtubing, cross country skiing, fat-tire biking and snowshoeing opportunities. The Northern Lights Nordic Ski Club grooms over 179 KM cross country ski trails in Itasca County.
